Library Mobile Apps Challenge

Co-organized by the University Library System and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Riding on the increased popularity of the mobile apps, CUHK University Library System (ULS) has been providing Mobile ULS & Mobile Catalogue.  We would like to further engage students with mobile apps and explore a functional mobile app that meets our students’ needs. Hence, ULS and the Department of Computer Sciene and Engineering are happy to jointly announce the Library Mobile Apps Challenge, an idea generation/app development contest, as one of the events for the 5th International m-libraries Conference, which will be held at the University in May 2014. In this contest, we are looking for participants who appreciate the value of library and have the app idea that can empower your peers in finding the information they need more effectively, and help the library outreach to more potential users.

If you have a cool idea to help your fellows to enhance learning capability/experience and are keen to practice your apps developing skills, go ahead to team up with your peers to enter the Library Mobile Apps Challenge contest, and partner with the library to make an unique learning journey for everyone in CUHK!

The theme for this contest is Make Better Use of the Library with Mobile Apps.  Relevant areas may include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Support and strengthen library-oriented life-long education
  • Apply location-based technology to library services
  • Tool to facilitate e-learning and research
  • Find and access library resources by using mobile device.
  • Realize and discover the potentials of library’s special collections.
