Presenters: Mr. Joe Murphy and Prof Mohamed Ally

This workshop will explore the newest and biggest mobile technology trend areas that are of interest to library services, mobile education, space, outreach, and collections. Participants will have a chance to experiment and learn hands on with several important mobile tools, apps, and services so bring your smart device if you have one or prepare to take notes if you do not. Participants will also get the opportunity to access mobile friendly library sites and to make comments on the sites. The latter part of the workshop will include an interactive discussion on best practices for mobile library programs and look into the future of mobile technologies in libraries.

Welcome to join us for a half day for sharing ideas and experiences relating to instructional technology. Mobile devices and new content delivery tools for both synchronous and asynchronous learning are turning traditional paradigms upside down and putting students in charge of their learning. This is intended as a pragmatic approach to sharing best practices with respect to change leadership, infrastructure, assessment, utilization of technology as well as creating a forum for collaboration and innovation.

Participants will:

  • Share how one-to-one iPad implementations are creating more engaging, interactive, and achievement-based learning experiences
  • Familiarize themselves with promising practices around the world and incremental learning data captured
  • Be able to create engaging learning objects via iTunes U Courses and iBooks Author (Hands on workshop)
  • Explore new models of learning through interactive, experiential based facilitation

The Welcome Reception will be held at Ron’s Kitchen located in S081-S082, G/F, Habour View 1, 12 Science Park East Avenue, Hong Kong Science Park, Shatin from 18:00 – 20:00. Please click here for directions if you wish to travel there yourself. Alternatively, there will be a bus leaving the University MTR station (University side) at 5.15 p.m. to take you to the welcome reception venue. For those registered for the Pre-conference Workshop, a bus will leave the Lee Shau Kee building at 5.30 p.m. to take you to the venue. Transport will also be provided at 20:00 from the Welcome Reception venue to the University MTR.
